Bellevue Dodge Charger dealer sells eleven Chysler made 2012 Top Safety Picks from IIHS

It’s amazing what a couple of years can do for a company. Chrysler Group vehicles are back with a vengeance, and they’re keeping you safe along the way.

Your Bellevue Dodge Charger dealer, Rairdon’s Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of Kirkland, is pleased to announce that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has named 11 models from Chrysler Group LLC as Top Safety Picks for 2012.

The 2012 models include the Chrysler Town & Country, 300 and 200; Dodge Grand Caravan, Durango, Charger, Journey and Avenger; Jeep Grand Cherokee and Patriot and the Fiat 500. The IIHS annually recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rollover and rear crashes based on a “good” rating in a series of tests conducted by the Institute.

Additionally, the vehicles must be equipped with standard electronic stability control systems.

Following their introduction last year, both the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger return again after achieving the highest ratings. Both models received ‘good’ ratings in all four categories.

Also returning to the list are the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango and Chrysler 200. The three models were introduced last year and received top marks from the institute too. Dodge Avenger and Journey have been named Top Safety Picks by IIHS for four consecutive years.

Recently, the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan, along with the 2012 Fiat 500, were named Top Safety Picks. Both minivans offer more than 40 standard or available safety features. The 2012 models of Town & Country and Grand Caravan received strength-to-weight ratio ratings of 4.51, among the highest of the minivans tested and above the IIHS requirement of 4.0. The U.S. government’s minimum requirement is 1.5.

The Fiat 500 features a comprehensive list of safety features, including seven air bags.

Among the latest safety innovations that are standard or available on many models is SafetyTec, which includes ParkSense rear park assist, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection.

Bellevue Chrysler Dealer Announces Chrysler’s Pentastar 3.6 V-6 Named to Ward Automotive’s “10 Best Engine” List

Bellevue Jeep Wrangler Dealer Sells the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, 2012 “Four Wheeler of the Year” Winner

Last year, your Bellevue Jeep dealer, Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of Kirkland, was making the announcement on our blog that the Jeep Grand Cherokee had won the coveted “Four Wheeler of the Year award by Four Wheeler magazine. This year, I’m proud to announce that the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, for sale in Bellevue at Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of Kirkland, has won the award!

The award is given annually by the editors of the opinion-leading off-road enthusiast magazine.

“The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon owned nearly all aspects of off-road testing during our annual ‘Four Wheeler of the Year’ competition,” said Four Wheeler Editor John Cappa. “The grueling 1,000-mile trek put each contending vehicle through its paces in several on- and off-road environments, including high-speed graded roads, jagged rocks, shifting sand dunes, and more. The universal do-all capability of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon allowed it to outperform the other competing 4x4s, making it our 2012 Four Wheeler of the Year award winner.”

To qualify for the competition, entries had to be entirely new or have substantial mechanical revisions from a previous model year. Testing was conducted over more than a thousand miles on a variety of terrain, including pavement, gravel, dirt, sand, rocks and mud, at elevations ranging from sea level to more than 9,000 feet.

The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon “Four Wheeler of the Year” award comes a year after the Jeep Grand Cherokee – the premium icon of the brand – captured the award, and less than two years after the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was named the Best 4×4 vehicle of the 2000-2009 decade by Four Wheeler magazine.

Has it really been a year since I told you all that the 2011 Jeep Wrangler made Kelley Blue Books Best Resale Value list? Well, apparently it has because for the second year in a row, it was announced that the 2012 Jeep Wrangler, for sale in Bellevue at Rairdon’s Jeep of Kirkland, has been named it again! Why buy a car that’s just going to lose it’s value, when you can own one of the most iconic cars on the road, the Jeep Wrangler?

“Jeep had one of the better year-over-year improvements with a 4.1 percentage point gain in its 60-month residual value for 2012,” said Eric Ibara, director of residual value consulting for Kelley Blue Book. “Particularly the Wrangler, among this year’s top-10 list, has been a steady performer, consistently racking up high values. For example, the 2007 model has yet to dip below 60 percent of MSRP as a 5-year-old vehicle. Each succeeding model year has managed to maintain that same high level of performance.”

Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com Best Resale Value Awards are based on projections from the Kelley Blue Book® Official Residual Value Guide, determined by a skilled staff of automotive analysts. These prestigious awards honor vehicles expected to maintain the greatest proportion of their original list price after five years of ownership. Vehicle’s projected resale value is specific to the 2012 model year.

Bold 2012 Dodge Avenger in Bellevue at Dodge of Kirkland

In my humble opinion, everything is better with a little spice. Whether it be food, my vacation, my car…I’m not a bland type of person. Now, I can enjoy my Dodge Avenger, for sale in Bellevue, with a little more bite. Your Seattle Dodge dealer now has the new Avenger R/T , and though the drivetrain has been left largely untouched, the mid-sized fighter now packs a tighter suspension.

Dodge engineers managed to increase the vehicle’s roll stiffness by 18 percent thanks to upping the front spring rates by 17 percent and damper rates by 15 percent. Out back, the rear springs see an increase in stiffness of 12 percent while the back damper rates jump by 20 percent. The Avenger R/T also benefits from a larger rear stabilizer bar – 21 mm (up from 19 mm).

Dodge says it’s shooting for a more spirited, performance sedan driving experience, though there’s no indication that the vehicle’s brakes have been upgraded in kind.

Power still comes from the same torque-steer happy 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 283 horsepower mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, so hopefully the firmer suspension has quelled the powertrain’s wayward tendencies somewhat. Either way, Dodge says that the combo is good for 19 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.

Outside, the Dodge Avenger R/T, for sale near Seattle, is differentiated from its lower-trim siblings with aesthetic tweaks like a body-color grille and R/T graphics on the front fenders. Large, 19-inch alloy wheels are also standard and the interior gets a special gauge cluster with the tachometer taking center stage, along with a special perforated leather steering wheel and “SRT-inspired” pedals. Rounding off the changes are special fabric seats with embroidered logos.
